SHINE Beer Sanctuary was created by Bozeman locals Julie and Travis with a simple vision: to build a welcoming place in Bozeman where people could gather, relax, and discover great craft beer.
Opened in 2019, SHINE partnered with LaParilla Grill — a 25-year-old Bozeman burrito concept — to bring house-made food to the equation. Together, these two local businesses created the full SHINE experience
Today, SHINE features 30 rotating craft beers on tap along with a bottle shop offering hundreds of selections from breweries around the world. Paired with a kitchen serving house-made burritos, tacos, soups, and fresh salads designed to complement great beer, SHINE has become a favorite gathering place in downtown Bozeman.
More than anything, SHINE is about creating an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome—whether you’re a dedicated craft beer enthusiast or simply looking for a comfortable place to meet friends.
Shine On.
Julie + Travis
The building that houses SHINE Beer Sanctuary has been part of the Bozeman community for decades. In the 1950s and 60s, the space was home to Bob’s Standard Service Station, evolving over the years through many different uses—including a bus station, dog wash, sign shop, and hot dog stand—before spending 30 years as The Garage and Soup Shack. When Julie and Travis, along with their partner Pete Strom, transformed the space into Shine, they were building on a foundation Pete knew well—he had owned both The Garage and La Parilla, Bozeman’s beloved college burrito spot, for 25 years. Bringing La Parilla into the Shine kitchen meant the same funky burrito energy found a new home, and that spirit is still very much alive today. Many of the building’s original elements were carefully preserved, honoring its long history as a place of gathering in downtown Bozeman—and today that tradition continues, welcoming guests to relax on comfortable couches, gather around communal tables, enjoy private booths, or take in the fresh air from the patio.
Our staff is kind of the best. We’ve got PhDs, environmental scientists, graphic designers, artists, and adventurers — all united by a love of great beer, good people, and getting outside the moment their shift ends. They’re outgoing, a little weird (in the best way), and genuinely passionate about making every person who walks through our door feel welcome. At Shine, culture isn’t something we talk about — it’s the people we hire.
Just look at Nolan. He’s been with Shine since day one — starting behind the bar, moving to the floor supervisor, and eventually landing exactly where he belongs as our General Manager. He’s a true beer nerd in the best sense, the kind of guy who gets genuinely excited about what’s on tap and why it matters. When he’s not running the show at Shine, you’ll find him on the water (the man has a serious boat problem), playing cribbage, or curled up with a good book. He’s been here from the start, and honestly, we couldn’t imagine Shine without him.
SHINE Beer Sanctuary is more than a place to grab a great beer—it’s a place where people come together.
We’re always looking for friendly, passionate people who enjoy hospitality, great beer, and creating memorable experiences for our guests. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working with a team that values community, quality, and great service, we’d love to hear from you.
